What Happens During an EECO

Homes Energy Assessment?

  • A Trained Energy Technician will come to your home to work with you one-to-one
  • We look at all key aspects in your home together to create and "Energy Action Plan" tailored for your family's specific needs.
  • Targets of the EECO Homes Energy Assessment
    • Thermal Envelope, specifically the infiltration of cold air into the house and the loss of heated air to the outside.  We work to minimize both.
    • Insulation along all key surfaces in the house (attic, basement, walls) is reviewed to determine the best course of action to reduce the loss of heat by conduction.
    • Heating and Air Conditioning - Whether you heat with oil or natural gas there are important things that must be done to ensure that your home’s mechanical equipment works efficiently and safely.
    • Appliances, Lighting and Electrical Equipment
      • Great opportunities exist to reduce your home’s electricity use very inexpensively by using energy efficient lighting.
      • At the same time electrical equipment such as computers, tv’s, video games and others need to be studied to look for ways to reduce the cost of their operation
    • Behavior
      • How we live our lives effects our use of energy and our home’s operational costs.
      • Low cost and no cost techniques exist that can help you lower your fuel and electricity use without impact your family’s lifestyle.  We’ll teach you how.
